Abbath Cancels Gdansk Concert Following Mother’s Passing

Abbath has regretfully called off their eagerly awaited show at Drizzly Grizzly in Gdansk on January 30th. This difficult choice stems from the heartfelt need of Abbath (whose real name is Olve Eikemo), the lead singer of the band, to leave the ongoing tour and stand alongside his mourning family.

Band issued the statement following show cancellation, which reads:

Dear fans in Gdansk,

Unfortunately we have to cancel our appearance at Drizzly Grizzly on January 30th as Abbath need to leave the tour to be with his family and bid farewell with his dear mother, who sadly passed away a few days ago.

The special guests of the tour, Toxic Holocaust and Hellripper, will still perform the show as scheduled, and some of the Abbath band members will be present in the Merch stand to meet with the fans.

You can either get a full refund if you don’t wan’t to attend the concert, or get a partly refund if you want to see the two other bands.

Thank you for understanding, we will be seeing you again soon, Gdansk.

The concerts in Warsaw and Krakow will go ahead as planned.

Abbath issued the statement on January 20 announcing his mother’s passing, writing at the time:

This morning, while we arrived in Germany, I got the call my mom passed away. It was very sudden.

She was one of the loveliest and most kind people you could ever meet. A fighter, a true warrior.

Thanks for everything, mom.

Rest in peace.

All shows will be played in your honor.
