British rock artist Yungblud has made a deeply personal and lifelong vow to honor his hero and mentor, the late Ozzy Osbourne, promising to carry his spirit forward by performing the Black Sabbath classic “Changes” at every concert for the rest of his life. The emotional pledge, made in the wake of Osbourne‘s passing on Tuesday, is rooted in a profound personal bond that was recently solidified on stage at Ozzys final farewell show.

In a heartfelt tribute posted on Thursday, July 24, the 27-year-old artist, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, shared how Osbourne had been a guiding light for him.

“You have been my North Star for everything for as long as I can remember from when I was misunderstood as a child to the way people thought I was just a little ‘too much’ or ‘strange’ in my life and career,” Yungblud wrote. “I owe so much to you, your wife and your family — you all gave me a road to run down and supported me when people would turn their nose up… You taught me it was beautiful to be out of the box.”

This connection culminated on July 5 at the “Back To The Beginning” concert, where Yungblud was chosen to perform “Changes” in honor of Ozzy. He described the experience as the defining moment of his career, which has now become the foundation of his promise.

“I promise you with all my heart I will try my best and make it my life’s journey to keep the sprit that you started and what you have taught me alive. I will give it my best shot. To sing this song for you at an event surrounded by legends inspired by you to a crowd that loved you was truly my life’s greatest honour and I vow to play this song every night for the rest of my life,” he wrote.

“You’re my hero in every regard. I hope you’re up there [h]avin a drink with Randy. For the prince of darkness you sure brought all the light to the world. I love you Ozzy.”

The bond between the two artists was more than just one of inspiration. Yungblud previously shared that in 2022, while filming a music video together, Ozzy gave him his personal gold cross necklace and said, “I hope this brings you luck.” Yungblud referred to the cross as “the most precious thing I own” and saw his performance at the farewell concert as his chance to “return the favor” and show his gratitude.

Now, as the music world mourns the loss of the “Prince of Darkness,” Yungblud‘s tribute moves beyond a simple remembrance, becoming an active, lifelong commitment to carrying the “light” and rebellious spirit of his hero forward for a new generation.
