Yungblud On The ‘Wild Journey’ Of Collaborating With Ozzy Osbourne And Aerosmith: ‘You Can’t Fake This S**t’

In a revealing new interview, British rock phenom Yungblud has detailed the incredible, behind-the-scenes stories of how he forged creative partnerships with two of rock’s most legendary acts, Ozzy Osbourne and Aerosmith. Speaking on Loudwire Nights, he provided a masterclass in making your own luck, a journey that involved a “North Star,” a secret studio booking, and the belief that in rock music, “you can’t fake this s**t.”

The most recent and surprising of these collaborations is a new, five-song EP with Aerosmith‘s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, titled One More Time. Yungblud explained that the project was born from an audacious move on his part. After receiving praise from rock legends like Joe Perry for his nine-minute song “Hello Heaven, Hello,” he asked if Aerosmith would be interested in a remix. When they agreed to a meeting in Los Angeles, he took a gamble.

“It’s like a first date, you’re either going home together or it’s going to be a disaster,” he said of the high-stakes meeting. Unbeknownst to the Aerosmith camp, he had “secretly reserved a studio across the street from where they were staying… just in case.”

The gamble paid off. “We got in the studio and ‘My Only Angel‘ was written within 55 minutes,” he revealed. “I’m in a vocal booth with Steven Tyler singing this chorus, going like, ‘What is going on right now’… This explosion of color was coming out.” He also confirmed that the entire EP was recorded before their joint public appearances at the “Back To The Beginning” show and the MTV VMAs. “No one had a f**king clue. It was hilarious,” he said.

This proactive approach was fueled by the confidence he gained from his friendship with his “North Star,” the late Ozzy Osbourne. That “beautiful friendship” also began with a music video. When Yungblud asked his friend Kelly Osbourne to be in his video for “The Funeral,” she was unavailable but made a call to her parents.

“She was like, ‘Let me call my mum,'” he recalled. “And she’s like, ‘I’ve just called my mum and my mum and dad are up for it.’ I’m like, ‘You are kidding me.'”

The meeting led to a deep, multi-year friendship and mentorship with the entire Osbourne family, who he says taught him “how to navigate this crazy industry.” He shared the profound advice Ozzy gave him when he gifted him a cross.

“The thing he said to me when he gave me his cross was, ‘Never compromise, be yourself, they’ll understand it later. Trust me.’ That’s what he said,” Yungblud shared.

His candid interview reveals that his collaborations with rock legends are not just a gimmick, but the result of genuine passion, mutual respect, and a belief that you have to make your own luck. “You can’t fake this s**t. That’s why I love this genre so much. It’s so real. I just want to see what comes and keep running. I think it’s so exciting right now… I really want to pour gasoline on this fire,” he said of rock’s resurgence.
