British alternative rocker Yungblud has opened up about the severe mental health toll he is currently facing amidst his rapid rise to global stardom.
Earlier this year, the musician celebrated a massive career milestone by taking home his first-ever Grammy for Best Rock Performance, an accolade awarded for his powerful live collaborative cover of the Black Sabbath anthem “Changes” at the 2025 “Back To The Beginning” concert. However, that professional high has been deeply contrasted by a wave of recent online toxicity and highly publicized feuds with other artists.
The singer has been forced to navigate relentless accusations labeling him as an “industry plant,” alongside harsh criticisms from several prominent rock figures. MGK recently engaged in a very public dispute with the British artist, alleging that Yungblud canceled a tour due to poor ticket sales rather than health concerns, ultimately dismissing him as a “silver spooned preachy wanker.” Additionally, Falling In Reverse frontman Ronnie Radke targeted him on social media, referring to the singer as a “silicon valley tech CEO funded punk rock liberator,” while The Darkness vocalist Justin Hawkins has also been vocal with his own criticisms.
Taking a moment to address his dedicated fanbase, Yungblud uploaded a teary-eyed video to Instagram on July 1. The emotional footage was captured during his performance at the Bludfest festival in Hradec Králové, Czechia, on June 27. Speaking directly to the festival crowd from the stage, he shared his ongoing struggles with isolation and pain.
“Lately I have felt so disconnected from everything. I have been trying my best to wake up every day. I have felt in pain a lot and I don’t know why for a long time. But every time I find your faces, every time I find your eyes, every time I look at you, I know that I belong somewhere.”
“To feel safe from the outside world is something that I can never thank you enough for. And all I want to say is that this is your family and if you are ever scared, if you are ever frightened, if you are ever threatened, we will be there. I will f**king be there for you.”
Accompanying the concert footage was a massive, unfiltered written statement outlining the overwhelming emotional weight of navigating the fast-paced modern music industry. The singer discussed dealing with constant negativity from bitter peers and acknowledging the need to eventually take a step back and hibernate.
“Honestly, I’ve been debating whether or not I should post this clip because I don’t want it to feel disingenuous like I’m doing it for a reason like clicks or personal game but at the end of the day this is what happened and it’s genuine so I thought f**k it.”
