Accept marked five decades of heavy metal with its new album Teutonic Titans 1976–2026, but guitarist Wolf Hoffmann says the celebration could have included some familiar faces from the band’s past.

During a recent appearance on The David Ellefson Show, hosted by former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, Hoffmann revealed that Accept invited its former members to participate in the 50th-anniversary project. However, none of the musicians accepted the invitation.

Hoffmann specifically confirmed that Udo Dirkschneider, Accept‘s iconic former vocalist, was among those who were approached. The guitarist expressed disappointment that the opportunity to reconnect with members of the band’s earlier eras did not materialize.

Wolf said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “We invited every one of the old members, of the original members, to be part of this. But as it happens, nobody wanted to have anything to do with it, which is quite sad, I believe, because it would’ve been a great way to reconnect or something, or even as a friendly gesture. But no, it wasn’t [to be]… And to me, that is still a sad and weird phenomenon that…

“You probably know this. As soon as somebody leaves the band, you never see them again,” he explained. “They don’t answer your e-mails. Usually, whatever, when they’re out, they’re out. And it’s really unfortunate. I wish it wasn’t that way, just because whatever disagreements or whatever change of minds happened to the departure, we could still be friends and talk and stay in touch. But it’s not that way.”

Although none of the former members joined the anniversary recording, Accept assembled an unusually large cast of guest musicians for the album.

Released September 4, 2026, through Napalm Records, Teutonic Titans 1976–2026 features 50 guests across 19 newly reworked versions of songs from the band’s extensive catalog.

The tracklist follows Accept‘s history chronologically, covering material from the band’s formative period and albums ranging from I’m A Rebel (1980) through Eat The Heat (1989). The songs have been reimagined with the various guest performers while retaining the presence of Hoffmann‘s guitar work and the vocals of current frontman Mark Tornillo.

Hoffmann previously said about Teutonic Titans 1976-2026: “There is no better way to celebrate this 50-year anniversary than to have our musical peers, friends, and inspirations come together with us to record these classic Accept songs, which I am honored and proud to share with the World. I hope everyone enjoys this very special record as much as we all enjoyed making it.”

Tobias Forge delivers a commanding performance on the track “Save Us” (I’m a Rebel, 1980), joined by Ray Luzier on drums. Phil Anselmo, Kirk Hammett, and Mikkey Dee tear through the speed metal classic “Fast As A Shark” (Restless and Wild, 1982). “Balls to the Wall” surges with the powerful range of Metal God Rob Halford, alongside the guitar work of Matthias Jabs, while the reimagined “Love Child” is elevated by Billy Corgan and David Ellefson (both songs from Balls to the Wall, 1983).

Other guest stars on Accept’s extraordinary release include K. K. Downing, Bobby Blitz, Hansi Kürsch, Chris Jericho, Ralf Scheepers, Billy Sheehan, Ola Englund, and Jeff Loomis. The album also features a re-recording of “Hellhammer” (Eat the Heat, 1989), performed by Accept’s current lineup: Wolf Hoffmann, bassist Martin Motnik, guitarist Philip Shouse and drummer Christopher Williams, joined by Jason McMaster on vocals.
