William Shatner is officially entering the heavy metal universe. The 95-year-old actor and recording artist is currently assembling an all-star lineup of rock and metal musicians for a brand-new, highly anticipated studio project.

Following the previous announcement that Judas Priest vocalist Rob Halford will appear on the record, William Shatner has now confirmed two massive additions to the rhythm section. Former Slayer and Misfits drummer Dave Lombardo will handle drumming duties, while Disturbed bassist John Moyer will bring his signature low-end groove to the album.

“It was a true privilege to contribute drums to William Shatner‘s ambitious heavy metal project,” Dave Lombardo stated regarding his involvement. “At any age, real artists keep pushing boundaries — and this one pushes them into orbit.”

The album’s production is being spearheaded by Adam Hamilton (L.A. Guns, Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Cleopatra Records president Brian Perera. Additional production credits include Derek Hughes, Marcus Nand, and Jürgen Engler of Die Krupps. Representatives note that the momentum is still building, with another Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame guitarist scheduled to be revealed shortly.

Billed as a full-scale artistic statement rather than a novelty record, the album blends William Shatner‘s dramatic, spoken-word vocal delivery with the raw, primal intensity of heavy music. The legendary entertainer aims to deliver a cinematic and physical sonic experience, fully embracing the danger and volume of the genre. Further details, including the official album title, release date, and additional guest stars, remain under wraps.

With a career spanning over seven decades, William Shatner is a global pop culture icon. He is best known for originating the role of Captain James T. Kirk in the “Star Trek” television and film franchise, alongside starring and award-winning roles in television hits like “T.J. Hooker,” “The Practice,” and “Boston Legal.”

His eclectic musical catalog includes the critically acclaimed 2004 album Has Been. That record, which featured his popular rendition of the song “Common People“, ultimately inspired a Milwaukee Ballet performance and the subsequent documentary film “Gonzo Ballet.”
