In a memorable closing to Limp Bizkit‘s recent stint as support for Metallica, guitarist Wes Borland paid striking homage to Metallica frontman James Hetfield during their performance last night, June 27th, in Denver, CO. Known for his elaborate and unique stage costumes, Borland’s latest ensemble was a direct and detailed nod to Hetfield’s vintage 1980s aesthetic.
Photos from the Denver show reveal Borland fully embodying the look of a classic 80s Hetfield, complete with a blonde wig and a guitar adorned with the phrase “EET PHO.” This clever inscription is a direct reference to “EET FUK,” famously emblazoned on Hetfield‘s 1987 ESP MX220 guitar, a prominent instrument during Metallica‘s formative years. The visual tribute underscored the special nature of the evening, marking the conclusion of Limp Bizkit‘s tour dates with the thrash metal legends. The carefully crafted attire appeared to be a playful “end of tour prank” from the often theatrical guitarist. You can watch the video and the Instagram photo down below.
The setlist for the evening was as follows (via Setlist.fm):
- “Dad Vibes“
- “Rollin’” (Air Raid Vehicle)
- “Proud Mary” (Creedence Clearwater Revival cover)
- “Nookie“
- “My Way“
- “Full Nelson“
- “Your Love” (The Outfield cover)
- “Hot Dog“
- “Walk” (Pantera cover)
- “My Generation“
- “Party Up” (DMX song)
- “Jump Around” (House of Pain song)
- “Take a Look Around“
- “Careless Whisper“
- “Faith” (George Michael cover)
- “Break Stuff“
A notable moment saw a fan brought on stage during “Full Nelson.”
