Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was shot by police and subsequently booked on attempted murder charges following a bizarre incident in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The events unfolded after California Highway Patrol (CHP) and Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers responded to a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Tuesday afternoon. According to reports, three suspects involved in the hit-and-run fled the scene on foot in the Eagle Rock neighborhood.
One of the suspects reportedly scaled a freeway embankment and entered a residential area. As officers searched the neighborhood, they entered the backyard of a residence adjacent to the home of Lauren and Shriner.
It was at this point that Lauren emerged from her house allegedly armed with a handgun. Law enforcement officials stated that officers repeatedly instructed Lauren to drop the weapon. However, she reportedly ignored these commands and, according to the LAPD, proceeded to point the gun at the officers.

In response, police fired, striking Lauren in the shoulder. Following the shooting, Lauren retreated back into her home. A standoff ensued for approximately 30 minutes before Lauren and her babysitter exited the residence and surrendered to authorities.
Lauren was taken to a local hospital where she received treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. She was later booked on charges of attempted murder. Authorities confirmed that a 9-millimeter handgun was recovered at the residence.
The suspect who initially fled into the residential area, leading officers to the vicinity of Lauren‘s home, was apprehended. However, the other two suspects involved in the original hit-and-run remain at large.
The incident has sparked considerable attention, given Lauren‘s connection to the well-known band Weezer. The circumstances surrounding Lauren‘s involvement and her actions leading up to the shooting are currently under investigation by the LAPD. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
