Days after his historic solo debut, former Exodus frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza successfully completed his second-ever solo show this past weekend, with full fan-filmed footage of the concert in Pompano Beach, Florida, now available online. The performance further solidifies the mission of his new project, ZETRO: to unearth and perform a career-spanning set of deep cuts and fan-favorite rarities.
The concert took place on Saturday, September 27, at Piper’s in Pompano Beach, one night after his debut in Tampa. For the performance, Zetro was backed by a band consisting of guitarists Zakk Frye and Kyle Smith, drummer Andrew Dewar, and bassist Donny “Death” Weissinger.
In a recent video, Zetro explained the concept behind his unique setlist, which is designed to give fans the songs they’ve been requesting for years.
“I’ll be playing a lot of Exodus, a lot of deep cuts, a lot of songs that I’ve seen you guys, over the years through social media, chime in about wanting to hear,” he said. “I would say there’s maybe only three or four that you have heard me sing in the set in the past. Everything else has not been played for a long time… which I think is gonna absolutely differentiate my set from, say, if you go see Exodus, because I’m not necessarily gonna play the same songs.”
He also stated that he has no plans to write and perform new solo material at this time, preferring to focus on the vast, unplayed back catalog from his tenures with Exodus and the pre-Testament band, Legacy.
“I’m gonna be honest with you: right now I’m not really into writing or doing a new solo Zetro project with new songs,” he revealed. “I feel that there’s so much, or so many songs, that have not been played in years or have never been played that I think I’d like to make shows of that first… You guys don’t want to hear [new solo] Zetro songs. You’re gonna be yelling out the stuff from Exodus or the stuff that you know that I performed with Legady.”
He specifically mentioned fan demand for deep cuts like “‘Cajun Hell’, ‘Verbal Razors’, ‘Chemi-Kill’, ‘Seeds Of Hate’,” and the never-before-played 11-minute epic, “Architect Of Pain.“
With two successful shows now completed, Zetro‘s solo chapter is officially underway. The project is a gift to longtime fans of Bay Area thrash, offering a rare opportunity to hear the lost classics of the genre performed by the iconic voice that originally brought them to life. Zetro is also scheduled to perform a three-date tour of Australia in February 2026.
