British heavy metal legends Iron Maiden are currently celebrating 50 years since their formation with the ongoing “Run For Your Lives” tour. A notable aspect of this tour is the live debut of their new drummer, Simon Dawson, who officially joined the band last December, taking over from longtime member Nicko McBrain. Dawson‘s sixth live appearance with the band took place on June 7 at the SR-Bank Arena in Stavanger, Norway.

As the “Run For Your Lives” tour progresses, Iron Maiden manager Rod Smallwood recently issued a direct appeal to fans regarding concert etiquette. In a post titled “Put away your phones and get ready to Run For Your Lives!” on the band’s website last month, Smallwood urged attendees to prioritize experiencing the live performance in the moment rather than through their phone screens. “We really want fans to enjoy the shows first hand, rather than on their small screens,” Smallwood wrote.
He detailed the impact of excessive phone use: “The amount of phone use nowadays diminishes enjoyment, particularly for the band who are on stage looking out at rows of phones, but also for other concertgoers. We feel that the passion and involvement of our fans at shows really makes them special, but the phone obsession has now got so out of hand that it has become unnecessarily distracting especially to the band. I hope fans understand this and will be sensible in severely limiting the use of their phone cameras out of respect for the band and their fellow fans.”
The Stavanger performance is just one of 26 stadium, festival, and arena shows planned across Europe. The tour has already sold over a million tickets, with most dates completely sold out. Fans are advised to check closer to show dates, and on the day of the concert, for the release of any additional tickets from venue and production holds.
