Danish rock and roll powerhouse Volbeat officially started their “Greatest Of All Tours Worldwide” last night, Saturday, June 7, at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The tour’s kickoff saw the band introduce several new tracks from their latest album, God Of Angels Trust, to a live audience for the very first time, alongside a selection of their well-known hits.

Following this, Volbeat will embark on headline treks across the U.S. with Halestorm and The Ghost Inside as special guests. God Of Angels Trust, Volbeat‘s ninth studio album, was released on June 6 via their long-standing label Vertigo/Universal. The band has garnered significant success, boasting ten No. 1 songs on the Billboard Mainstream Rock airplay chart, a record for a non-North American band. With this new album, Volbeat opted for a fresh approach to songwriting, prioritizing spontaneity over strict adherence to traditional structures.

Volbeat guitarist, vocalist, and main songwriter Michael Poulsen commented on the creative process behind the new record: “In the past, I’ve taken a long time to write and and obsessed over so many elements of the songs before finishing them. This time, I wanted to make a Volbeat record without thinking too much about it. Instead of following any kind of structure I said, ‘Okay, there are no rules. I can do anything I want. I can start with a chorus or do songs that are just a bunch of verses stacked on top of each other. Anything goes.’ That was freeing for me and made it exciting to write this album.” This bold approach is expected to thrill their dedicated fanbase.
