After a hiatus of nearly a year, Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil returned to the live stage with his solo band on Friday, August 1. The performance, held at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway, was part of a stacked bill that also included Poison‘s Bret Michaels and Ratt‘s Stephen Pearcy.
The concert marked Neil‘s first live appearance since October 2024, when he last performed with Mötley Crüe at the Aftershock festival. During his set, which featured the Mötley Crüe classic “Shout at the Devil” as the second song, Neil addressed the crowd with an emotional and heartfelt message.
“Hey, thank you, everybody. It’s good to be here. I haven’t been on stage since almost a year now,” he said. He then opened up about the reason for his extended absence. “I had a medical thing that happened to me, and they said I wouldn’t be back on stage here. I said, ‘F**k that, man.’ And I’m back and I’m with you guys tonight. And I’m really proud to be here, man. Thank you so much.”
The unspecified medical issue had previously caused the postponement of Mötley Crüe‘s planned Las Vegas residency. The residency, originally scheduled for March and April 2025, was rescheduled to September and October of the same year to allow Neil to recover from a procedure recommended by his doctors. The rescheduled dates for the Las Vegas shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM are now set to run from September 12 to October 3, with all original tickets remaining valid.
For his solo performances, Neil is joined by a seasoned group of musicians, including Dana Strum (bass) and Jeff “Blando” Bland (guitar) of Slaughter, and drummer Zoltan Chaney. Neil‘s performance in Boston offered fans a glimpse of the energy they can expect from the rescheduled Mötley Crüe residency later this year.
