Vimic Announces Comeback Show Honoring Joey Jordison’s Legacy

The surviving members of Vimic will reunite for a special one-night-only tribute concert in Los Angeles this fall.

The long-awaited debut album from Vimic, the band formed by late Slipknot drummer Joey Jordison, is finally set for release. To celebrate the album, titled Open Your Omen, and to honor Jordison’s legacy, the surviving members of Vimic will reunite for a special one-night-only tribute concert in Los Angeles this fall.

The event, presented by the Joey Jordison Charitable Fund, will take place on October 3 at the Teragram Ballroom. Vimic will be supported by Wednesday 13, who played with Jordison in the band Murderdolls, along with other special guests. Tickets for the tribute show go on sale Friday, June 6.

The release of the album and the concert were made possible by a successful Kickstarter campaign launched by the Jordison Family Estate, which raised over $95,000. “After years of working to secure the rights to the music, the Jordison Family Estate is releasing Open Your Omen independently to get the album into the hands of the fans that have been asking for it for years,” a statement on the campaign page read. Funds raised will be used to manufacture and distribute the album on CD and vinyl, print merchandise that Jordison was actively involved in designing, and produce the tribute event. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Joey Jordison Charitable Fund‘s partnership with Broken Strings, a non-profit dedicated to providing musical instruments to children in Iowa.

Vimic was formed by Jordison in 2016 after the dissolution of his previous project, Scar the Martyr. The initial lineup featured vocalist Kalen Chase, guitarists Jed Simon and Kris Norris, bassist Kyle Konkiel, and keyboardist Matthew Tarach. The band released several singles between 2016 and 2017, including “Fail Me (My Temple),” which featured a guest solo from Dave Mustaine of Megadeth.

Mustaine praised the project back in 2017, stating, “This album wails! Joey Jordison and Vimic are incredible. High-octane drumming and heavy, melodic songs make this band something you definitely need to check out! I dig them so much I laid a solo down on one of their songs, ‘Fail Me (My Temple)’.”

However, the release of Open Your Omen was plagued by years of setbacks. The album’s producer, Kato Khandwala, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2018. Following this, the band members shifted their focus to other projects. The album was delayed indefinitely after Jordison himself sadly passed away on July 26, 2021. Now, thanks to the efforts of his family and fans, the final musical chapter of Joey Jordison’s career will finally be shared with the world.
