A somber and still-developing story has cast a shadow over the Vans Warped Tour. As organizers rolled out details this week about the festival’s 2027 return to Long Beach, reports began circulating that an attendee was gravely injured at the 2026 Long Beach edition — and his family says they are being left without answers.
The festival confirmed its 2027 Long Beach dates at the Shoreline Waterfront, with a loyalty presale opening this week. But that announcement was quickly overtaken by accounts spreading online of a serious incident at the most recent event.
According to reports that first surfaced on the Warped Tour subreddit and later in a Long Beach Warped Tour Facebook group, an attendee identified as David Granado Jr. was injured during or around Thrice‘s set on Sunday, July 26. The details that have emerged so far come almost entirely from social media, much of it posted by Granado‘s brother, Alejandro, and have not been independently verified.
By Alejandro‘s account, the brothers attended the festival together but split up roughly 90 minutes before the injury to catch different bands performing at the same time on separate stages. Alejandro has said the two had not been in contact since separating, and that David was admitted to a hospital shortly after 8 p.m. local time.
Piecing the situation together through online posts and comments, Alejandro has claimed that David made his way to a medical tent on his own and was then taken to the emergency room, where doctors reportedly determined he had sustained a severe brain injury and operated on him multiple times. As the initial reporting has stressed, no concrete evidence supporting these details has been made public.
Alejandro has also voiced frustration over what he describes as a lack of communication from the festival. In above mentioned posts, he has claimed that the family received very little information from Vans Warped Tour about what happened, and that David‘s emergency contact was never notified — neither when he reached the medical tent nor when he was taken to the hospital. These remain his claims, and Vans Warped Tour has not publicly addressed them.
Reports have since circulated within the Warped Tour community suggesting that Granado did not survive his injuries. As of now, that has not been formally confirmed by the festival, local authorities, or any established news outlet, and the broader circumstances of the incident remain unclear and unverified.
