Two Metallica Fans Arrested After Climbing Tower During Perth Show

A daring stunt at Metallica’s Perth concert on November 1 ended with two fans facing legal trouble. A 20-year-old from Carey Park and a 23-year-old from Australind were arrested and charged with trespassing after allegedly climbing a central tower inside Optus Stadium during the sold-out event.

Video and photos shared by 10 News show the shirtless men high above the crowd, as police instructed them to descend before removing them from the stadium. According to a Western Australia Police spokesperson, “It will be alleged the men climbed up the central tower inside the bowl at the Metallica concert held at Optus Stadium on Saturday.”

This performance marked Metallica’s first visit to Australia in more than a decade, with the legendary American metal band supported by Evanescence and Suicidal Tendencies. Perth concert organizers reported that over 60,000 tickets were sold for the high-energy show.

Following the Perth stop, Metallica’s Australian tour continues at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday, November 5, Marvel Stadium in Melbourne on Saturday, November 8, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Wednesday, November 12, and will conclude at Accor Stadium in Sydney on Saturday, November 15. The trek will then continue to Auckland, New Zealand, with a performance at Eden Park on Wednesday, November 19.

Metallica last played in Australia as headliners of the Soundwave Festival in 2013, making this tour a long-awaited return for Aussie fans.
