What was supposed to be a celebratory return for Twisted Sister has come to an abrupt halt. The band has officially canceled all of its planned 2026 reunion performances after frontman Dee Snider stepped down due to ongoing health challenges.
The 50th-anniversary shows were set to kick off on April 25 in São Paulo, Brazil, before continuing through the summer. However, a statement issued by guitarists Jay Jay French and Eddie Ojeda via the band’s official website confirmed that those plans are no longer moving forward.
“With regrets, Twisted Sister cancels 50th anniversary celebration performance.
“Due to the sudden and unexpected resignation of Twisted Sister‘s lead singer Dee Snider brought on by a series of health challenges, the band has been forced to cancel all shows scheduled, beginning April 25th in Sao Paulo Brazil and continuing through the summer.
“The future of Twisted Sister will be determined in the next several weeks.
“Stay tuned for updates,

Rather than scale things back, Snider has chosen to step away entirely: “I don’t know of any other way to rock. The idea of slowing down is unacceptable to me. I’d rather walk away than be a shadow of my former self.”
Snider, who turned 70 last year, has long been known for delivering explosive, all-or-nothing performances. That relentless intensity, however, has come at a cost. It has now been revealed that he suffers from degenerative arthritis and has undergone multiple surgeries over the years just to stay on stage, often managing only a handful of songs at a time while in significant pain. More recently, he discovered that the decades of pushing himself physically have also affected his heart, making it impossible to continue performing at the level fans have come to expect.
