Despite a healthy skepticism about how fans receive new material from legacy bands, Twisted Sister guitarist Jay Jay French has revealed that the band is “considering” recording a new song for their upcoming 50th-anniversary reunion. In a new interview, he confirmed that frontman Dee Snider “wrote a song and he presented it to us.”
Speaking with Long Island’s 102.3 WBAB, French first explained the difficult reality of introducing new music into a classic setlist. He recalled the band’s last new track, 2009’s “30,” and how Snider would jokingly warn the audience that the “bathroom song” was coming up. “He goes, ‘We have a bathroom song that’s coming up. I’ll give you plenty of warning.’ And so he made such a point of saying it that nobody would get up and go to the bathroom, ’cause now they were completely humiliated,” French recounted.
He argued that if you asked a real fan to choose between a new track and a classic, the vote would be “99-1 against” the new song. “That is simply the truth,” he stated.
However, despite this reality, French made the surprising revelation that a new song is indeed on the table.
“Now, having said that, he wrote a song and he presented it to us and we’re considering recording it. We’re considering it, and if we do, then we may play it. But we haven’t done it yet. It could happen. However, like I said, if you asked a hundred fans what they wanna hear, you would get a response of almost zero on a song they didn’t know.” French said.
The discussion of new music comes as Twisted Sister prepares for a massive 2026 world tour celebrating their 50th anniversary. The run will feature the band’s core trio of Snider, French, and guitarist Eddie Ojeda, with returning drummer Joe Franco and bassist Russell Pzütto rounding out the lineup. The first show has already been announced for Spain’s Barcelona Rock Fest.
