Bosnia and Herzegovina’s hardcore scene has a new force to reckon with. Matori Nek Sjednu, the up-and-coming band from Tuzla, have just dropped their debut single, “Smrad”, along with an intense music video that captures the weight and grit of their sound.
Formed in 2024, Matori Nek Sjednu quickly made waves in the local alternative scene. Known for their unrestrained energy on stage—often spending more time mingling with the crowd than performing—and their ironic, community-inspired lyrics, the band brings both humor and heart to their hardcore approach. Their stage outfits often include soccer jerseys from their youth, adding a playful theatrical element to their performances. As the band describes it themselves: “a playful approach to serious work.”
While many of their early tracks, like “Edo Medo”, “Lijep i sunčan dan”, and “Panker Dado”, leaned into satire and comedy, “Smrad” takes a darker, more symbolic turn. The song was inspired by Tuzla’s winter and surroundings, and both the music and video convey a crushing, immersive heaviness. Lyrics were written by frontman Dennis Duraković, music is credited to the entire band, production and mixing were handled by Mladen Ristić, and the video was directed by Darin Ramić Mazalović.
The release of “Smrad” also sets the stage for the band’s upcoming album, Kljusine, which has been in the works for a year. Another single with a music video is planned before the album’s full release on May 1, 2026, featuring eight original tracks.
Despite their brief time together, Matori Nek Sjednu have already played more than twenty shows across Bosnia and Herzegovina. Highlights include performances at Rooftop Manifesto II Festival in Banja Luka (2024) and Kaleidoskop Festival in Tuzla (2025).
The current lineup includes:
- Dennis Duraković – vocals
- Mladen Ristić – guitar
- Andrej “The Chairman” Stolica – bass
- Dino Kapidžić – drums
