Trivium bassist Paolo Gregoletto has provided an update on the band’s plans for a new full-length album, indicating that it may not be released until late 2026 or even 2027. Speaking with Bloodstock TV host Oran O’Beirne, Gregoletto explained that the band wants to take their time crafting the new record, especially since they recently completed a three-song EP titled Struck Dead.

Struck Dead will arrive on October 31 via longtime label Roadrunner. It was produced by Trivium and recorded with Mark Lewis at the band’s Hangar Studios in Orlando, Florida. It was mixed and mastered by Josh Wilbur.

Gregoletto noted that the EP’s release gives the band a chance to breathe and consider their next move. “We just wanna really take our time and think about what we wanna do on the record,” he said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “And I think part of why we turned this into an EP was it felt like these songs felt good together. It gave us a little time to take a breather and think about what we wanna do, while also giving people some new music to kind of have and not just kind of leave them hanging for another year.”

The band is currently on tour in the U.S. and will be back in Europe next summer. However, Gregoletto confirmed that they are already working on new material at their studio, the Hangar. “We’ve already started working on new stuff,” he stated. “We have our space, the Hangar [studio and band headquarters], back home. So we’re kind of always writing.”

“I think tentatively maybe end of next year or 2027 is possible,” he said.

Guitarist Corey Beaulieu also shed light on the origins of the EP, telling Forever Loud that the songs were originally conceived as a way to test out the band’s newly constructed studio. “Originally it was, like, ‘Let’s just write a…’ Originally it was, like, ‘Let’s just write a song so we have something to record,'” he said. The band ended up with three songs and decided to release them as an EP to tide fans over until the next full-length album.

The EP’s lead single, “Bury Me With My Screams,” was officially released on August 8, and the band performed it live for the first time at Bloodstock Open Air. Beaulieu noted that the song has been well-received. “[It] seems like a lot of people have been listening to it, checking it out,” he said. He added that the song already feels like a natural part of their setlist, as they had been rehearsing it for almost a year. “Playing it in the set, it kind of feels like an old song to us at this point, since we played it so many times up until this point. So, it’ll fit right in real naturally with the rest of the songs in the set,” Beaulieu said.
