Trivium Machine Head Bloodstock 2025

Florida metal titans Trivium transformed their headlining set at the UK’s Bloodstock Open Air festival into a historic, all-star celebration of heavy metal last Friday, August 8. The band curated a unique, once-in-a-lifetime event that featured a parade of special guests from across the metal spectrum, a poignant tribute to the late Ozzy Osbourne, the live debut of a new song, and a powerful nod to their own classic material.

The Derbyshire festival crowd was treated to a series of surprise appearances throughout the band’s monstrous 18-song set. The first major guest was Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn, who joined Trivium for a thunderous cover of the Black Sabbath classic “Symptom of the Universe” in a powerful tribute to the recently passed “Prince of Darkness.”

The all-star metal summit continued with guest spots from some of the genre’s most respected and diverse figures. The enigmatic instrumentalist III from the breakout UK band Sleep Token joined them for “Throes of Perdition,” while Norwegian black metal legend Ihsahn of Emperor lent his signature snarl to the fan-favorite “In Waves.” Rounding out the collaborations, Malevolence guitarist Josh Baines joined the band for a blistering rendition of “The Deceived” from their classic album Ascendancy.

Beyond the guest appearances, the setlist was packed with special moments celebrating the band’s past, present, and future. Fans witnessed the live debut of Trivium‘s new single, “Bury Me with My Screams,” from their forthcoming Struck Dead EP, which is scheduled for release on Halloween (October 31). In a nod to their heroes, the band also dusted off a cover of Metallica‘s “Master of Puppets” for the first time since 2008.

The unforgettable night at Bloodstock solidified Trivium‘s status not just as a headlining force, but as curators and champions of the entire heavy metal community. The performance serves as a powerful preview for their upcoming “Ascend Above the Ashes” North American tour with Jinjer, which kicks off this fall.
