Canadian rock legends Triumph made a triumphant return to the stage on Friday, June 6, delivering a special three-song reunion performance. The event was part of the Rogers Festival at the Final, a free outdoor concert held in the ICE District of Edmonton, Alberta, ahead of Game 2 of the 2025 Stanley Cup Final between the Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers. Fans were quick to share the moment, with Cindy Lefebvre publicly posting her Facebook Live video of the set. You can watch the concert down below.

For their much-anticipated return, Triumph performed a selection of their beloved classics: “Allied Forces“, “Fight The Good Fight“, and “Lay It On The Line“. Guitarist/vocalist Rik Emmett and drummer Gil Moore were central to the performance. However, bassist Mike Levine was unable to participate. Levine later explained his absence in a Toronto in-studio interview with SiriusXM’sTrunk Nation With Eddie Trunk,” stating: “In the land of where medicine is free, it takes long times to get specialist appointments. And I’ve been waiting for four months to see this guy. And my [doctor] appointment was booked for [June 6] at 11:00 a.m. — this morning. And I couldn’t get out of it. It’s one of those that I had to go to.”

Joining Emmett and Moore on stage were three notable Canadian musicians: guitarist Phil X (Bon Jovi, and a former member of Triumph), drummer and keyboardist Brent Fitz, and bassist Todd Kerns. Both Fitz and Kerns are also current members of Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators.

Last Friday, June 6, Triumph were celebrated with the release of Magic Power: All-Star Tribute To Triumph. This star-studded album, put out by Round Hill Records, features 15 tracks where renowned musicians cover classic Triumph songs, highlighting the acclaimed trio’s lasting impact.

The project was the brainchild of producer Mike Clink, known for his work on iconic albums by bands like Guns N’ Roses, Mötley Crüe, and Whitesnake. Magic Power boasts an impressive roster of talent, including vocal performances from Dorothy, Sebastian Bach, Nancy Wilson, Joey Belladonna, Slash, and Jeff Keith. The album also features powerful drumming from Kenny Aronoff and Tommy Aldridge, and incredible guitar work from Bumblefoot, Paul Gilbert, and Nita Strauss.

Triumph, originally formed in 1975 in Toronto (Mississauga, Ontario), rose to prominence in the late 1970s and 1980s. The power trio became celebrated for their blend of hard rock anthems and spectacular live shows. Over their career, Triumph sold more than 15 million albums worldwide, earning 18 gold and nine platinum certifications across Canada and the United States. Their distinctive sound, characterized by Emmett’s virtuoso guitar work and the band’s soaring vocals, produced timeless rock staples such as “Lay It On The Line“, “Magic Power“, and “Fight The Good Fight“, which helped define the arena rock genre for a generation.

By the early 1980s, Triumph was headlining international arena tours, recognized for their elaborate, high-tech stage productions. These shows were pioneers in incorporating state-of-the-art lighting, lasers, and pyrotechnics. After a decade and a half of relentless success, Triumph’s enduring legacy continued to grow, earning them some of Canada’s highest honors. Among their numerous accolades, the band was inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall Of Fame in 2007, the Canadian Music Hall Of Fame in 2008, and Canada’s Walk Of Fame in 2019.
