As Triumph prepares for their first major tour in over three decades, founding bassist Mike Levine has shared a candid and somewhat sobering update regarding his participation. In a new interview with host Mark Strigl on SiriusXM‘s “Ozzy’s Boneyard” (Channel 38), Levine disclosed that a medical issue with his hand will significantly impact his ability to perform during the band’s highly anticipated 50th-anniversary trek.
Speaking remotely while Strigl recorded from New York, Levine managed expectations for the fans hoping to see the classic lineup in full force every night. When asked if he plans to appear at all scheduled dates, the bassist was transparent about his physical limitations.
“I’m going to attempt to play as many shows as I can,” Levine explained. “I have a problem with my hand that precludes me from being able to really play well. That is a big issue. I don’t want to go up there and not be able to execute properly. There is that.”
To ensure he remains an integral part of the show even when he cannot play live, the band is developing a hybrid production approach. Levine detailed plans to use pre-recorded video segments to bridge the gap.
“In the meantime, we are going to do some shooting. There is going to be some really neat video stuff, special effects. So I am going to pre-record a couple of things, just so… when I am feeling good, and they will get pumped into the show at various times. I will be there physical or virtually in one way shape or form.”
The 2026 tour marks a monumental moment for the Canadian rock legends, celebrating a half-century of music with support from fellow countrymen April Wine. While the core trio of Levine, guitarist/vocalist Rik Emmett, and drummer/vocalist Gil Moore are the face of the reunion, they will be bolstered by a powerhouse backing band to ensure the musical heavy lifting is covered.
The touring lineup features Bon Jovi guitarist (and former Triumph member) Phil X, alongside the formidable rhythm section of drummer/keyboardist Brent Fitz and bassist Todd Kerns, both known for their work in Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators.
The trek kicks off in Canada on April 22 before crossing into the United States in mid-May.
