Legendary Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has officially unveiled “World Alone“, the hard-hitting single from his forthcoming solo album, From The Dark. Issued through BMG Records, the track made its worldwide debut today during a special global streaming broadcast in the riff-master’s hometown of Birmingham, England—just a stone’s throw from the historic Black Sabbath Bridge, which opened in 2019 to honor the heavy metal pioneers.
Driven by a relentless barrage of scorching guitar riffs and solos, “World Alone” delivers a heavy rock punch supported by a thundering rhythm section and the soaring vocals of Norwegian singer Jorn Lande. The single is accompanied by a music video set within a retro-futuristic, dystopian universe where the story’s protagonist, The Believer, is thrown into a twisted video game, fighting for his survival and ultimate salvation.
Scheduled to arrive on October 23, 2026, From The Dark features Jorn Lande as a full co-writer and vocalist across every track, alongside a powerhouse rhythm section consisting of bassist Becky Baldwin and drummer Karl Brazil. Working alongside his longtime studio partner, co-writer, and engineer Mike Exeter, Tony Iommi has produced a massive, crystalline sonic landscape that feels both contemporary and classic.
Speaking on the creation of the record, Tony Iommi shared:
“It’s an album we’ve really enjoyed making. We’re not trying to prove anything – it’s a great album, it rocks!”
From the classic down-tuned riffing on opener “Over The Violent Sun” to the uncompromising attack of “Black Times” and the orchestral, sinister atmosphere of “Beyond The Dead“, the album stands tall alongside the finest work in the guitarist’s legendary catalog. Lyrically, Jorn Lande explores existential themes and dystopian landscapes, highlighted by nautical imagery on the centerpiece “Stormwatcher” and a stark reflection on a loveless existence on “Death Wake“. The record concludes with the furious “Return Of The Arbalist” and the expansive kaleidoscope of “Legacy“.

The release will also feature two exclusive bonus tracks:

Arriving roughly one year after Black Sabbath‘s historic final performance at the 2025 “Back To The Beginning” event in Birmingham, which took place just weeks before the passing of frontman Ozzy Osbourne, From The Dark proves that the iconic guitarist’s creative fires remain burning at full intensity.
Across a six-decade career that began after overcoming a severe childhood factory accident that cost him two fingertips and birthed his signature heavy tone, Tony Iommi has remained one of Britain’s most celebrated cultural figures. Along with Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward, he helped invent heavy metal. Over the years, he has collaborated extensively with the late Ronnie James Dio, scored chart-topping success with Black Sabbath‘s 2013 reunion album 13, played to 1.6 million fans on the 2016–2017 “The End” tour, and even partnered with the Birmingham Royal Ballet for “Black Sabbath – The Ballet” in 2023.
A Grammy Award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee, he was recently awarded an MBE in June 2026, adding to honors such as the Freedom of the City of Birmingham, a Lord Mayor’s Award, and a doctorate from Coventry University.
