According to a new report from the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, a woman in her 40s is currently facing harassment charges following allegations that she persistently stalked and contacted Ghost frontman Tobias Forge. The targeted harassment reportedly took place over several months, between July and October of last year.
The suspect allegedly bombarded the musician with lengthy messages of praise via text and WhatsApp. After Tobias Forge blocked her phone number, she escalated her efforts by sending a series of registered letters to his residence. While the singer ignored the majority of these parcels, he opened the most recent one to discover a mobile phone inside, which he noted did not appear to be in its original factory packaging. In addition to the physical packages, the woman also sent several requests for 5,000 kronor (approximately $530) through the Swedish mobile payment system, Swish.
The singer immediately handed the mobile device over to local authorities. In his official testimony detailed in the preliminary investigation report, Tobias described the escalating situation as “intrusive” and “threatening,” indicating that the suspect had crossed a severe personal boundary.
“I didn’t want to keep [the phone] in my home so I put it on the balcony before I handed it in to the police,” Forge stated in the preliminary investigation report (translated from Swedish). “I feel quite reserved around people trying to contact me, but over the years I’ve had about a dozen stalkers. However, no one has done anything as invasive and downright threatening as sending a mobile phone. It wouldn’t have been so good if I lived at a secret address, for example. With that phone, I reached my limit.”
He added: “I’ve had devoted pursuers before, most of them are pretty harmless, but there’s something about this that’s odd.”
During the investigation, the woman claimed to have met Tobias 16 years ago. She alleged to authorities that they communicated daily through messaging applications and had actually been engaged since September of last year. Despite making these bold claims, she refused to provide the police with any chat logs or evidence to verify her story.
Tobias Forge vehemently denies knowing the woman or having any relationship with her whatsoever. He clarified to investigators that he is not seeking financial compensation from the ordeal; his only desire is for the harassment to cease entirely.
“I don’t want to make her life worse. I just want her to leave me alone and not hurt anyone else.”
According to the Swedish publication, the woman is also facing separate charges involving other individuals.
