Rock musician Tim Montana is preparing to release his latest studio album, Entire State Of Tim Montana, on July 31 via BMG. The upcoming sixteen-track record boasts an impressive roster of special guest appearances from some of the heaviest hitters in music and entertainment, including Jerry Cantrell of Alice In Chains, Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, as well as actors Martin Sheen, Charlie Sheen, and Robert Patrick.
To accompany the album announcement, Montana has shared the record’s second single, “Brown Sugar“, which features guitar powerhouses Gibbons and Slash.
“Recording ‘Brown Sugar‘ with Billy F Gibbons and Slash was a full-circle moment for me. My first brush with music was finding a Guns N’ Roses tape, and later I became a die-hard ZZ Top fan,” Montana said of the collaboration. “Billy is like family, and seeing him play ‘Brown Sugar‘ at our Wise River Club made me realize it had to be the one. To have these childhood heroes, Billy, who’s become a mentor, and Slash, who lit that early spark on this track with me is beyond a dream.”
The new track follows the album’s lead single, “Break Me Down“. Known for delivering unapologetic, high-energy songs driven by blistering riffs and raw vocals, the songwriter has built a growing audience by bridging the gap between Southern rock swagger and modern hard rock production.
Discussing the creative direction of the upcoming record, Montana offered: “This record is a collision of my heroes and my scars, the loudest moments I’ve ever lived and the quiet truths I couldn’t outrun. Don’t worry there’s some fun moments too. It’s not over-polished, it’s not safe, but it’s exactly who I am.”
Montana has steadily forged a unique path in the rock world, transforming a rough, off-the-grid childhood in the American West into a successful career rooted in frontier poetry, vivid lyricism, and heavy distortion. After relocating to Nashville at 21, his blue-collar work ethic caught the attention of David Letterman, who personally booked him on his late-night show.
From there, Montana unlocked a creative chemistry with Gibbons, resulting in the 2013 sports anthem “This Beard Came Here to Party“. He also co-wrote radio hits for Kid Rock (including “Tennessee Mountain Top” and “Greatest Show On Earth” for the Sweet Southern Sugar album) and earned the endorsement of legends like Dave Grohl. He even caught the eye of Charlie Sheen, who directed the music video for his track “Mostly Stoned“. Following the release of his 2021 album Long Shots, Montana has fully leaned into his grunge influences, setting the stage for his heaviest and most personal work to date.
