As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has publicly responded after renewed attention was drawn to his personal life following a recent podcast interview with his ex-wife, Dany Ciara. The singer issued a statement via Instagram on December 28, marking a rare public comment on the matter.

Lambesis began by explaining that he has intentionally avoided speaking about his private life, stating that his focus has remained on his work and the band’s future: “I stayed quiet about my personal life because it wasn’t relevant to the work. I’m only speaking now because the same pattern keeps repeating. Old stories resurface only when my life and career move forward again.

“I’m not interested in drama or attention. The music either stands on its own or it doesn’t.”

He went on to suggest that the timing of renewed public discussion surrounding his past relationship was not coincidental: “What is difficult to ignore is when someone you moved on from long ago suddenly becomes publicly fixated right when momentum returns. That kind of timing explains itself.

“Context matters,” he continued. “Removing it is the easiest way to manufacture a narrative, especially when platforms are willing to host one-sided stories without accountability.”

“I was held accountable for my past over a decade ago. Since then, my life has been public, documented, and scrutinized. If anything illegal had happened in the years since, it would have been addressed through proper channels.”

“This isn’t even unique. The same sequence played out with another artist, Greg Overton, following a surge of visibility after appearing on the Joe Rogan podcast. Public commentary from a former relationship followed immediately. People noticed then, just as they notice now.”

Lambesis concluded his statement by distancing himself from the controversy and reaffirming his focus on music and upcoming projects: “Some people build things. Others only appear when there’s something to attach themselves to. In the end, it’s the work that lasts, not the noise around it.

“It’s over. Time to finally move on. I’m going back to making music. I have an album to finish before the next tour.”

Recently, Lambesis has rebuilt As I Lay Dying with an entirely new lineup, released new material, and returned to international touring. His statement suggests he intends to remain focused on future releases rather than continued public debate.

Lambesis’ comments come shortly after Dany Ciara appeared on the Brutally Speaking podcast, where she offered her most extensive public account of their former relationship. During the interview, Ciara alleged a pattern of emotional and physical abuse, addressed past incidents that have circulated online, and discussed police involvement related to domestic disputes.

Ciara also claimed she previously recanted statements and wrote to the district attorney in order to protect Lambesis’ career, saying she was not prepared to leave the relationship at the time. She has stated that she possesses messages, images, and videos that she believes support her version of events.
