Thy Art Is Murder Appear To Have Parted Ways With Vocalist Tyler Miller

Thy Art Is Murder appear to have parted ways with vocalist Tyler Miller, debuting new frontman Jerry Grimefeld in Romania.

Thy Art Is Murder 2026

Speculation that Thy Art Is Murder have parted ways with vocalist Tyler Miller picked up steam this week — and a festival stage in Romania seemed to bear it out.

The chatter started on Reddit, where fans noted that the Australian band and Miller, their frontman of roughly three years, had stopped following one another on social media. Miller also hadn’t posted anything about the group in months. The talk hardened into something more concrete on July 29, when Thy Art Is Murder opened a European summer run at Rockstadt Extreme Festival in Ghimbav, Romania — without him.

In Miller‘s place, vocal duties went to Australian singer and rapper Jerry Grimefeld, also known as Jerry Chard, who has previously spent time in the bands Vengeance and Honest Crooks. Grimefeld isn’t a complete stranger to the role, having filled in for select Thy Art Is Murder shows earlier this year, but the Romania set marked the start of a full tour with him behind the mic. Fan-shot footage of Grimefeld fronting the band quickly surfaced online.

For now, it’s unclear whether the change is a temporary arrangement or a permanent one. As of this writing, neither the band nor Miller has publicly addressed his absence or confirmed a split.

Miller came aboard back in 2023 in what was a fairly last-minute move, stepping in after the group cut ties with longtime frontman CJ McMahon. McMahon‘s exit, which followed controversial comments he made online, was one of the more talked-about lineup shakeups in modern heavy music at the time, and Miller, previously of Aversions Crown, ended up re-recording vocals for the band’s album Godlike. Should the Miller situation be confirmed, it would mark the band’s second vocalist change since that 2023 upheaval.

The European itinerary ahead is a busy one, with major festival stops still to come including Wacken Open Air, Brutal Assault, Dynamo Metalfest and Summer Breeze — dates fans will be watching closely to see whether Grimefeld stays on for the duration.
