Three Days Grace has announced their eighth studio album, Alienation, which is set for release on August 22 via RCA Records. The new record marks the official return of original frontman Adam Gontier, who has rejoined the band to share vocal duties with current singer Matt Walst.
The reunited lineup, which also features Neil Sanderson on drums, Brad Walst on bass, and Barry Stock on guitars, played its first full show together in 12 years on February 25 as a support act for Disturbed. The first single from the new album, “Mayday”, was released last November.
In a recent interview with Todo Dia Um Rock, Matt Walst described the sound of the new record. “I feel like it’s a pretty diverse album. There’s some really heavy songs and some other songs that are pretty heartfelt ballads,” he said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “And the way it came about, it was just so easy that it just rolled really fast and really easy. So, we could just get back to the drawing board, to be honest, and pump another one out.”
Alienation will also feature a collaboration with violinist Lindsey Stirling on the track “Never Ordinary”.
In addition to the new album, the band is also looking back at its history. Adam Gontier confirmed that discussions are underway for a potential tour in 2026 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their classic 2006 album, One-X.
“Yeah. We have been talking about it, for sure, and it seems like something that we all are into doing,” Gontier said. “Yeah, 20 years goes by fast. We all were kids. So, yeah, I think we’re all interested in doing something like that.”
