After more than 60 years of rock ‘n’ roll dominance, iconic rock band The Who has officially announced their final North American tour, “The Song Is Over – The North American Farewell Tour.” This emotional curtain call will span cities across the U.S. and Canada, celebrating the legacy of one of the most influential bands in rock history.
The tour was unveiled during a special live press conference held at the Iconic Images gallery in Piccadilly, London, where Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend shared the news with fans around the world. Aptly named after the band’s classic 1971 track, “The Song Is Over,” the tour promises to be a grand finale that honors their groundbreaking musical journey.
A notable highlight of the event included the return of a rare piece of Who memorabilia: an American football helmet that originally appeared on the sleeve of their 1974 compilation Odds & Sods. Recently returned from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the helmet was showcased at the press event—adding an emotional, full-circle moment to the announcement.
The tour kicks off on August 16 in Sunrise, Florida, and will hit major cities including Boston, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, and more before concluding on September 28 in Las Vegas. Notably, fans will have two chances to see THE WHO at both the Budweiser Stage in Toronto and the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
