A star-studded collection of musicians will pay homage to Metallica‘s seminal debut album, Kill ‘Em All, on a new tribute record titled No Life ‘Til Leather. Set for release on November 14 via Silver Lining Music, the album features an array of bands and artists covering all ten tracks from the 1983 classic. The first single, a high-octane rendition of “The Four Horsemen,” comes from a reunited original lineup of The Almighty, marking their first time in the studio together since 1991.
Ricky Warwick, the frontman for The Almighty, expressed the significance of the project to the band. “‘The Four Horsemen‘ by Metallica got us back into the studio with the original lineup for the first time since 1991… unbelievable,” he said. He emphasized Metallica‘s profound influence on his band, making the opportunity to contribute a “no-brainer.” According to Warwick, the recording was a quick, yet powerful process. “We did the whole thing in a day and a half with as much power and passion as you’d expect from The Almighty. Turn it up really, really loud!”
The tribute album brings together a diverse lineup of heavy music icons and rising stars. Early influences on Metallica, such as Saxon, Diamond Head, and Motörhead, are featured, offering a generational connection to the source material. Newer acts like Tailgunner and the progressive metal band Soen also contribute, representing the next wave of metal musicians. The album is further bolstered by performances from thrash veterans Testament and former Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, adding more layers to the tribute. The closing track, “Metal Militia,” is performed by Raven, a band that famously toured with Metallica on the Kill ‘Em All For One tour in 1983, bringing the project full circle.
The album will be available in multiple formats, including vinyl, CD, and digital, allowing fans to experience these fresh takes on a genre-defining album.
