System Of A Down bassist Shavo Odadjian is trading the stage for the small screen. The musician has picked up a guest role in the second season of “Dexter: Resurrection“, where he plays a character named R.H. Martin.
The casting was revealed through a first-look image from the new season, and it does not paint a comfortable picture for Odadjian‘s character. In the shot, he shares the frame with the show’s title character, the vigilante serial killer Dexter Morgan, played once again by Michael C. Hall — and Martin appears to be on the wrong end of that meeting.
No exact premiere date has been locked in yet. The season is still expected to land later this year, streaming on Paramount+ and Showtime.
The image came from Marcos Siega, an executive producer on the series, who recently shared a batch of stills from the upcoming episodes. The frame featuring Odadjian was pulled from the season’s opening episode.
Siega‘s connection to the metal world runs deep, which makes the pairing less of a coincidence than it might first appear. He built the early part of his career behind the camera on music videos, working with acts like Anthrax and Quicksand. His résumé also includes one of the most recognizable clips in the genre: the video for System Of A Down‘s signature track “Chop Suey!“, a song that has since gone 5x platinum.
In other news, System of a Down and Faith No More have officially confirmed a four-date stadium tour across Australia and New Zealand, set for January and February 2027 — and it’ll be the first time the two bands have ever shared a stage in the region.
For System of a Down, this marks a return to Australian shores after more than a decade away. Faith No More, meanwhile, add another region to their previously confirmed 2027 touring plans, which bassist Bill Gould had flagged as covering Australia, Europe, South America, and the US.
