The pair have added Rio de Janeiro to their 2027 plans, a single stadium date on 15 January that, as the schedule stands, would put Faith No More back on stage before anywhere else in the world.
Rio gets its own night. System of a Down will play the Maracanã on 15 January 2027, with Faith No More billed as special guest for what both camps are selling as a one-off.
The timing matters more than it might look. The Rio show sits a full week ahead of the Australian and New Zealand run the two bands announced in late July, which opens in Sydney on 22 January. Unless something else is added in between, the Maracanã becomes the venue where Faith No More play their first concert since 2016. Louder
System of a Down laid out the ticket plan on their own channels, describing it as a return for one night only in Rio.
The build-up followed the same script the two bands used in Oceania. The saga began with unexplained projections appearing on a building in Brisbane, featuring the red-hand artwork from System of a Down’s self-titled debut alongside imagery from Faith No More‘s We Care a Lot. The reveal was set to Faith No More‘s “Epic,” leaving little doubt the two acts were connected.
From there, similar imagery was spotted in Melbourne, Sydney, and Wellington.
System Of A Down have not played Australia since headlining the now-defunct Soundwave festival in 2012; a 2027 return would close a roughly 15-year gap. They remain active elsewhere, having recently wrapped a European and UK run and played Sick New World in Las Vegas in April.
Faith No More last appeared in the country at Soundwave 2015. Their road back has been anything but smooth — a planned 2020 tour was postponed by the pandemic, further 2021 dates were scrapped after frontman Mike Patton revealed an agoraphobia diagnosis, and a rescheduled 2022 Australian run was ultimately cancelled.
This follows Faith No More‘s confirmation last month that they intend to return in 2027. Bassist Bill Gould said the comeback would take in Australia alongside Europe, South America and the United States, and indicated shows could begin as early as January or February.
The band had gone quiet again in 2021 amid a disconnect with Patton, but Gould has since said those issues are resolved and the group is ready for an extended stretch on the road. If the projections mean what they appear to, an Australian leg with System Of A Down would be one of its centrepieces.
The confirmed 2027 schedule now reads:

No second Brazilian date has been announced. São Paulo fans have been pointing at Interlagos since the projections appeared, but nothing has been confirmed.
