The demand for System Of A Down‘s long-awaited European return has proven to be overwhelming, as the band has now added a second stadium show in Paris due to the immediate sell-out of the first. This marks the second time in as many days that the iconic band has been forced to add a date to their 2026 tour, following a similar addition in London yesterday.
The announcement, made on Wednesday, September 17, confirms that the Armenian-American rock legends will now play a second show at the massive Stade de France on Saturday, July 4, 2026. This comes in addition to their originally scheduled Paris performance on July 2. A pre-sale for the new date is scheduled to begin tomorrow, September 18, with the general on-sale for all dates starting this Friday.
The explosive ticket sales are a clear and powerful demonstration of the pent-up demand for the band’s first full tour of the continent in nine years. The nearly decade-long absence from European stages was largely due to frontman Serj Tankian‘s past health issues and the band’s collective decision to move away from the grueling nature of traditional, long-form touring.
“For years, personally, I didn’t wanna tour at all,” Tankian explained in a recent interview. “I had back surgery. I had a lot of issues, so I was not, health-wise, in a place where I could travel a lot. And the idea of the groundhog, the idea of repetition also artistically got to me in terms of continuous long touring.” The band has since embraced a model of playing fewer, larger “event” style shows.
The 2026 tour is shaping up to be a monumental event for European fans who have waited nearly a decade to see the band again. The tour features a powerhouse support bill of Queens Of The Stone Age and the shockingly reunited sludge metal legends, Acid Bath, and is now officially the hottest ticket of 2026.
