Sun Dont Shine, Supergroup With Type O Negative And Crowbar Members, Announce Debut LP, Release New Song

Sun Dont Shine, featuring former Type O Negative members Kenny Hickey (guitar/vocals) and Johnny Kelly (drums) alongside Crowbar‘s Kirk Windstein (guitar, vocals) and Todd Strange (bass), has announced its debut album, Birth To Death.

The full-length album is scheduled to arrive in early 2026 via Corpse Paint Records. The band, which previously operated under the name Eye Am, has also released a new single and accompanying music video for the track “In The End.”

The new song is described as a “slower, more contemplative side” of the band, blending Windstein‘s “earth-shaking riffs” with Hickey‘s “evocative, often ethereal melodies.”

Kirk Windstein confirmed that the new single is a strong indicator of the band’s overall sound. “‘In The End‘ is a great example of what we want Sun Dont Shine to sound like,” Windstein stated. “It’s got dynamics, melody and a bit of heaviness to it.”

Andrew Spaulding of Corpse Paint Records noted that the song’s reflective nature serves as a meditation on mortality and a tribute to fallen icons who inspired the band’s members.

“‘In The End‘ was one of those melodies that stayed with me from the moment it was written,” Spaulding said. “I found myself humming it constantly. It carried a different weight — slower, more reflective — but the lyrics cut deep in a way that immediately made me think about the people we’ve lost along the way. For us, that includes giants who shaped this band’s very DNA: Peter Steele, Dimebag Darrell and, most recently, Ace Frehley.”

The band’s statement on the song echoed this sentiment, calling the track a universal truth: “‘In The End‘ is the journey we’re all on… and the one we all must eventually take.”

The announcement of Birth To Death marks a shift in strategy for the group. It was previously announced in June that Sun Dont Shine would release an EP titled Coming Down, but the band has since confirmed they will focus on the full-length album instead.
