Sun Dont Shine—the band formerly known as Eye Am—has just released a heavy new single titled “Power To Live“.
The group features a massive lineup of scene veterans, pairing Kirk Windstein (guitar/vocals of Crowbar, Down, and Kingdom Of Sorrow) and bassist Todd Strange (Crowbar, Down) with former Type O Negative members Kenny Hickey (guitar/vocals) and Johnny Kelly (drums).
Alongside the new track, the band officially confirmed that their debut full-length album, Birth To Death, will arrive on April 1 via Corpse Paint Records. This marks a shift in plans for the group; back in June 2025, they initially announced they would be releasing an EP titled Coming Down. They have since scrapped the EP idea to focus entirely on this full-length record.
“Power To Live” was written by Kenny Hickey and Kirk Windstein. The track was recorded at OCD Studios in the summer of 2025, with Duane Simoneaux producing, Vinnie LaBella co-producing, and Andrew Spaulding serving as executive producer.
Lyrically, the song tackles humanity’s dark, repetitive history of violence and the sheer will it takes to survive it. The concept was actually born from a conversation between the band members about the single’s cover art, as they discussed how modern society still hasn’t evolved past killing one another.
Explaining the core message of the new song, the band issued the following statement:
“The track is a challenge to the times we’re living in,” Sun Dont Shine explains, “an insistence on survival and consciousness in the face of cycles that refuse to break.”
To accompany the single, the band collaborated with tattoo and visual artist Nadiya Vizier for the cover art. They are currently offering a highly limited merchandise drop tied exclusively to the song’s streaming release. The collection includes 100 hand-signed posters autographed by Nadiya Vizier, a custom sticker sheet, and 10 ultra-limited trucker caps featuring the original artwork.
Fans can stream “Power To Live” right now. A dark, atmospheric official music video directed by Mike Holderbeast is scheduled to premiere on February 23 across Vevo/YouTube, Tidal, Apple Music, and Vimeo.
