Former Exodus frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza made his solo debut last night in Tampa, Florida, and according to fan reports, he delivered exactly what he promised: a setlist packed with deep cuts and fan-favorite rarities from his tenures with Exodus and the pre-Testament band, Legacy.
The concert, the first of his new solo career under the simple banner ZETRO, took place on Friday, September 26, at the Brass Mug.
“Great show, band was tight,” one fan wrote, praising the performance. He listed a stunning array of Exodus deep cuts that were performed, including “Deranged,” “Like Father Like Son,” “Shroud Of Urine,” “Thrash Under Pressure,” “Verbal Razors,” and “Seeds Of Hate.” He noted that while the crowd was small, the show was “well worth the $25 tix.”
The setlist fulfills the mission Zetro laid out for fans in a recent video, where he explained the concept behind his new project.
“I’ll be playing a lot of Exodus, a lot of deep cuts, a lot of songs that I’ve seen you guys, over the years through social media, chime in about wanting to hear,” he said at the time. “Everything else has not been played for a long time. Some songs probably when the albums came out initially. I know one song I can’t even remember playing ever. So that’s gonna be kind of cool for the fans.”
He also stated that he is “not really into writing” new solo material at the moment, preferring to focus on the vast, unplayed back catalog he helped create.
“I feel that there’s so much, or so many songs, that have not been played in years or have never been played that I think I’d like to make shows of that first,” he explained. “And maybe in a year or two down the road, if it seems right to do, I’ll venture [into writing and recording new music].”
For the dedicated fans who showed up in Tampa, Zetro’s solo debut was the fulfillment of a long-held wish: a true “old-school evening of Bay Area thrash metal” delivered by the man himself. Zetro performs his second solo show tonight in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with an Australian tour planned for February 2026.
