Staind have released a live video for “Fade“, the second look at Break The Cycle (25th Anniversary Live) ahead of the album’s arrival on August 21 through Alchemy Recordings and BMG.
It follows “It’s Been Awhile (Live)“, which landed alongside the record’s announcement in June and has since passed half a million plays.
The performance was captured during the pandemic, in a warehouse in Holyoke, Massachusetts — a short distance from where Staind came together in 1995. It marked the first occasion the band had ever played Break The Cycle from beginning to end, and it produced live debuts for songs they had never taken to a stage, among them “Change” and “Warm Safe Place“.
The album runs all 13 tracks in their original sequence, from “Open Your Eyes” through to “Take It“.
“Fade” was written by Aaron Lewis alone and became one of the record’s biggest radio successes, climbing to No. 3 on Billboard‘s Mainstream Rock chart and No. 4 on Modern Rock, while crossing to No. 62 on the Hot 100.
Released in May 2001, Break The Cycle was the record that moved Staind from rock radio into the mainstream. It entered the Billboard 200 at No. 1, went on to five-times platinum certification in the United States, and produced a run of singles — “It’s Been Awhile“, “Fade“, “Outside“, “For You” and “Epiphany” — that defined a stretch of early-2000s rock programming.
Break The Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour
Staind take the album back out this autumn on a run produced by Live Nation, with Seether in the main support slot and Hoobastank and Hinder opening.
The Connecticut date on September 3 is a standalone show without the support bill.
