A stage curtain caught fire during Evanescence‘s performance on Friday night, June 12, at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa, Florida.
The incident took place during the ninth song of the setlist, as the band played “Calm Down“, a track featured on their recently released sixth studio album, Sanctuary.
Fan-filmed footage from the concert shows a pyrotechnics effect on the right side of the stage igniting the curtain and a portion of the surrounding stage rigging. A stagehand quickly intervened, extinguishing the small blaze within seconds using what appeared to be a water bottle. The fire was put out so rapidly that the Amy Lee, fronted group did not have to halt their performance, and a large portion of the audience remained completely unaware of the mishap.
The Tampa stop was the second date of Evanescence‘s 2026 North American tour. The trek officially launched on Thursday, June 11, in West Palm Beach, Florida, and is scheduled to conclude on August 2 in Clarkston, Michigan. Spiritbox and the Nova Twins are serving as the opening acts for the North American leg.
Following the summer run, the band will head overseas for a European tour spanning early September through early October. Poppy will join as a special guest, with the Nova Twins supporting the non-U.K. dates. K.Flay, who collaborated with Evanescence on the single “Fight Like A Girl“, will open the U.K. shows.
After completing the European dates, Evanescence will return to the United States for a special standalone concert at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado, on October 26, featuring K.Flay as the opening act.
