Snot have signed to BLKIIBLK, with their first album since 1997 due in summer 2027 and new music in early 2027.
Snot have signed a worldwide deal with BLKIIBLK, the heavy imprint of Frontiers Label Group, and are writing and recording an album for release in summer 2027. It will be the Santa Barbara band’s first collection of new songs since their 1997 debut, with the first new music due early in 2027 to coincide with that record’s 30th anniversary.
Founder and guitarist Mikey Doling said the fit was obvious from the outset.

They truly believe in what we’re doing, and we couldn’t be more excited for what’s ahead. We’re proud to be joining the Frontiers/BLKIIBLK family. I’ve got my sunglasses on because the future is so bright! We’re fired up to bring the new Snot songs we’ve been working on to our fans around the world. This is just the beginning!” he said.
Mike Gitter, head of A&R at Frontiers Label Group, framed the signing around the band’s position between two eras of heavy music.
“BLKIIBLK isn’t merely just proud to be working with Snot but, more importantly, to be part of fulfilling a legacy that has only intensified as time has gone by. Snot is really the high-octane stopgap between fellow Santa Barbara punk miscreants RKL and generation nu-metal. Mikey, John, Jamie and Andy are on fire and not only celebrating their history but making it much more than a classic-album-and-then-we’re-out proposition. F- that! Snot lives!” Gitter added.
The band entered the studio in July 2025 with producer Chris Collier, whose credits include Korn and Prong, initially working on two songs. Those sessions are the first recordings to feature vocalist Andy Knapp.
Snot formed in Santa Barbara in 1995 around vocalist Lynn Strait, previously a bassist in local punk band Lethal Dose, and guitarist Doling, who had played in Kronix. Bassist John Fahnestock, drummer Jamie Miller and second guitarist Sonny Mayo completed the lineup. They signed to Geffen Records in 1996 on the strength of their Los Angeles shows.
Get Some followed in May 1997, recorded at Long View Farm in North Brookfield, Massachusetts with producer T-Ray, and pulled hardcore, punk, funk and metal together in a way that sat alongside the emerging nu-metal wave without belonging to it. The band played Ozzfest in 1998.
Strait died on 11 December 1998, aged 30, when his car was struck by a pickup truck as he crossed Highway 101 at Mussel Shoals in California. His dog Dobbs, who appears on the cover of Get Some, was also killed. The band stopped afterwards.
In 2000 the surviving members assembled Strait Up, a tribute record built around unreleased Snot material with guest vocalists including Jonathan Davis of Korn, Corey Taylor of Slipknot, Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit and Serj Tankian of System Of A Down. Members went on to Soulfly, Bad Religion, Amen, Lo-Pro and Channel Zero.
Knapp joined in 2024 and made his live debut in January 2025 at the House Of Blues in Anaheim. Doc Coyle of God Forbid, formerly of Bad Wolves, came in as touring guitarist that April after the band parted with Mayo. When Miller‘s commitments to Bad Religion keep him off the road, Chris “Seven” Antonopoulos, previously of Opiate For The Masses and Channel Zero, takes the drum stool.
Since coming back the band have played Welcome To Rockville, Sonic Temple, Inkcarceration, Louder Than Life, Aftershock, Download, Graspop Metal Meeting, Alcatraz and Motocultor, alongside sold-out club headline shows in North America and Europe.
BLKIIBLK has been active this year, adding Havok to a roster that also takes in Megadeth and Biohazard.
