Slipknot turntablist Sid Wilson has launched his own record label, Vomit Face Records, a venture he describes as a home for “rebels in motion” and “a place for the misfits to have a voice.” The label’s first release is a deeply personal project for Wilson: the debut album from Lil Bushwick, son of the late Geto Boys legend Bushwick Bill, an album Wilson produced to fulfill a promise made to the iconic rapper before his death.

Wilson announced the formation of the label, co-founded with Brooklyn rapper/producer J57, on Monday, October 20. In a powerful mission statement, he outlined the label’s ethos.

Vomit Face Records is about tearing down the walls. This is for the artists who don’t fit in and never wanted to,” Wilson declared. “It’s rebels in motion that unapologetically stand out. It’s to celebrate imperfection, people making real art out of the mess in a world that rewards fake… Real art isn’t pretty, it should stir something slightly uncomfortable and break down those walls to create something new inside of you. It’s a place for the misfits to have a voice and a place to make their own.”

The label’s first signing, Lil Bushwick, carries a significant and poignant backstory. Wilson explained that he had made a pact with the elder Bushwick Bill to collaborate on an album before the rapper’s passing in 2019.

Bushwick Bill and I had made a promise to each other to make an album… Bill sadly, and unfortunately, passed away,” Wilson shared. “In meeting his son and discovering that he too was a music artist, I made a promise to the spirit of the great Bushwick, that I would fulfill our pact by producing an album for his son.”

The first single from Lil Bushwick‘s self-titled debut album, “Take It Back,” has been released and even features posthumous contributions from his father, along with co-production from DJ Lethal (Limp Bizkit, House of Pain).

“Being able to collaborate with my pops six years after his passing brings me a different type of joy,” Lil Bushwick said. “Hearing his voice again… takes me back to the simpler times. I know he’d be proud… He was always big on being yourself and I’ll forever be that.”

Vomit Face Records will also serve as the outlet for Sid Wilson‘s own solo material, as well as releases from J57, Dead x Heds, Rome Fortune, Ricardo Grimm, and Mars Black. Lil Bushwick’s debut album is scheduled for release on Halloween, October 31, and will reportedly open with a sample of his father’s iconic line from the Geto Boys classic “Mind Playing Tricks On Me.”
