Slipknot’s Eloy Casagrande Confirms Band Is ‘Cooking’ New Music: ‘New Material Is Coming’

The Slipknot creative engine is officially firing on all cylinders, as new drummer Eloy Casagrande has confirmed, “new material is coming, for sure.” His statement is the first official confirmation that the band has begun the writing process for their next album. The move follows guitarist Jim Root‘s successful push earlier this year to halt the band’s touring schedule specifically to focus on creating a record with their powerhouse new member.

Speaking in a new interview with Drummer’s Review, Casagrande, who joined the Iowa metal legends in early 2024, gave a definitive update on the status of the follow-up to 2022’s The End, So Far.

“What I can tell you right now is that we are cooking, we are doing some new music, for sure. Yes, we are,” Casagrande said (as transcribed by Blabbermouth). “Since I joined the band, we have been working on some new ideas. We keep exchanging guitar riffs, drum beats, so we are always doing something. We had also some jam sessions. So we have a lot of material right now. We just have to sit and put everything together, start jamming, and it’s happening… So new material is coming, for sure.”

This new creative period is the direct result of a conscious decision made by the band, spearheaded by guitarist Jim Root. In an interview this past May, Root explained that he had become frustrated with the band’s relentless touring schedule getting in the way of writing the first album of the Casagrande era.

“It’s really hard for me personally to be creative when you know you have a tour looming over your shoulder,” Root said at the time. “I need to know that I’ve got some time off… After this European run — I told our manager, I’m, like, ‘Stop booking tours, dude. Stop it.’… I kind of put my foot down and was, like, ‘We need to stop, man. We just need to stop.'”

His motivation was clear: to properly integrate their new drummer into the band’s creative core.

“‘Cause I wanna write a record, and we owe it to Eloy to write a record,” Root stated. “We need to get Eloy in a room and start jamming and getting creative and get all the rest of the guys in the band and start riffing out and then building them into songs.”
