The long-awaited wider release of Look Outside Your Window is finally happening, with the project officially set to arrive globally on June 12.

After resurfacing briefly last month as a limited Record Store Day vinyl exclusive, the long-mysterious release from members of Slipknot is now being prepared for full distribution across multiple formats. For years, the project existed more as a rumor among fans than a concrete release, despite occasional comments from those involved.

Unlike a traditional Slipknot record, Look Outside Your Window was never intended to follow the band’s established sound or identity. It was created during downtime from the All Hope Is Gone era by Shawn “Clown” Crahan, Corey Taylor, Jim Root, and Sid Wilson, who used the sessions to explore a looser, more experimental direction away from the intensity and structure associated with Slipknot.

The material reflects that mindset clearly, leaning into more atmospheric and psychedelic territory rather than heavy metal aggression. The project was described by its creators as a creative outlet with no expectations attached, allowing them to experiment freely outside the boundaries of their main band.

The album will now be available in a range of physical editions, including several limited vinyl pressings. These include Blue Transparent Leaf-Filled LP (limited to 250 copies), Clear Purple LP (limited to 500), Bubblegum Pink LP (limited to 1000), Silver Nugget LP (Revolver exclusive, limited to 500), Golden Pearl LP (Hot Topic exclusive, limited to 750), as well as an Eco Black LP and Digipak CD edition.

Look Outside Your Window track listing is as follows:

  1. “11th March”
  2. “Moth”
  3. “Dirge”
  4. “Christina”
  5. “Is Real”
  6. “Away”
  7. “In Reverse”
  8. “Toad”
  9. “Juliette”
  10. “U Can’t Stop This”

One of the most notable guest contributions on the record comes from Lacuna Coil singer Cristina Scabbia, who appears on the tracks “Christina” and “Is Real.” Her involvement came through her personal connection to Jim Root, which eventually led to her participation during the recording process.

Jim and she were dating,” Crahan previously told Rolling Stone. “She’s a talented artist, and she was up in the house. I had to go to Jim, like, ‘Hey, what do you think about getting Cristina on?’ And he said, ‘Absolutely.’”

For the track “Christina“, the percussionist tasked the vocalist with a highly specific, conceptual spoken-word performance in her native language.

“The first thing I did was make her write a poem, a letter of intent in Italian. I told her to make it about batteries that are dying that cannot be recharged,” he said. “And she’s like, ‘OK.’ I have the piece of paper in Italian, and she did her best to read it to me, but I’ve never read it since then or memorized it. I just like to hear it the way it is. Jim and I were producing her, really making her get conviction. By the end, you could just feel it.”

Scabbia also lent her singing voice to “Is Real“, a move that reportedly caught Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor off guard in the studio.

“He had already sung on the song,” Crahan said. “So he thinks she’s just doing the poem, but then she busts into that vocal, singing, going for it. I just remember Corey going back a little bit and he goes, ‘OK.’ He loved it, but it really surprised him in a good way.”
