Posters bearing Slipknot‘s Tribal S logo have started appearing in cities across North and South America, all pointing to a website that shows a single date: September 28.
The band have not said what the date is for. The spread of cities has led fans to expect a tour announcement.
The posters direct people to unlock.slipknot1.com. The site opens as a sign-up page asking for an email address, first name, city and zip code, with users agreeing to receive personalised updates and marketing messages about the band. Once signed up, visitors see Slipknot‘s logo engulfed in flames alongside the numbers “09” and “28”. A counter at the bottom of the screen, which has been climbing since the page went live, appears to track the number of sign-ups. Anyone who stays on the page long enough will see an image flash briefly across the background twice.
Fans on the band’s Reddit community have been logging sightings of the posters. So far they have been reported in:
- San Francisco, CA
- Los Angeles, CA
- Hershey, PA
- Houston, TX
- Chicago, IL
- Washington, DC
- Toronto, ON
- Mexico City, Mexico
- Bogotá, Colombia
- Buenos Aires, Argentina
Australian outlet Blunt Magazine has also reported sightings in the UK.
No tour has been confirmed. The campaign lands at a busy point for the band, whose last large-scale run was the 2024 tour marking 25 years since their self-titled debut.
Slipknot are currently making their eighth studio album with producer Matt Wallace, whose credits include Faith No More and Mushroomhead. Earlier this month guitarist Jim Root confirmed that tracking was still under way, which suggests the record itself is not imminent.
The band released “Arsenal” on September 9, their first new music in more than three years. Root has described it as a standalone single that will not appear on the album. It was also the band’s first release since turntablist Sid Wilson parted ways with the group in August, and the first studio recording to feature drummer Eloy Casagrande.
