Slayer Celebrate ‘Reign In Blood’ 40th Anniversary With Full Album Performance In Minnesota

The Minnesota concert is just one part of Slayer’s ongoing series of comeback appearances.

Slayer Shakopee Minnesota 2026

Four decades after changing the landscape of extreme metal with Reign In Blood, Slayer brought the landmark album back to the stage in its entirety last night (September 4) in Shakopee, Minnesota.

The performance took place at Lake Mystic Amphitheater and saw the legendary thrash metal band celebrate the 40th anniversary of its 1986 classic with a special career-spanning set. Down, Suicidal Tendencies, and Hatebreed joined the bill as support.

Before launching into Reign In Blood, Slayer worked through material spanning much of its catalog, including “South Of Heaven,” “War Ensemble,” “Seasons In The Abyss,” “Hell Awaits,” and “Repentless.” The show also featured a handful of songs making rare appearances in the band’s live set.

“When The Stillness Comes” was performed for the first time since 2019, while the Reign In Blood portion of the evening marked the return of several tracks that had not been played live in more than a decade.

Slayer performed the following set:

“South Of Heaven”
“Hate Worldwide”
“Disciple”
“Mandatory Suicide”
“Repentless”
“War Ensemble”
“When The Stillness Comes” (first performance since 2019)
“Jihad”
“Seasons In The Abyss”
“Born Of Fire”
“Dead Skin Mask”
“Hell Awaits”
“213”

The band then performed Reign In Blood in full:

“Angel Of Death”
“Piece By Piece” (first performance since 2014)
“Necrophobic” (first performance since 2014)
“Altar Of Sacrifice” (first performance since 2015)
“Jesus Saves” (first performance since 2019)
“Criminally Insane” (first performance since 2014)
“Reborn”
“Epidemic” (first performance since 2014)
“Postmortem”
“Raining Blood” (with extended intro)

The Minnesota concert is just one part of Slayer‘s ongoing series of comeback appearances. The band will next perform tomorrow (September 6) at Rocklahoma in Pryor, Oklahoma, followed by an October appearance at Sick New World Texas and two November shows at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles dates, scheduled for November 13 and November 14, will feature support from Cannibal Corpse, Cavalera, and Crowbar.

Slayer will then take the Reign In Blood anniversary celebration to Latin America, where the band is set to perform the album in full at a series of dates across Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina, and Brazil.

Upcoming Slayer shows include:

Sep. 06 – Pryor, OK – Rocklahoma
Oct. 21 – Mexico City, Mexico – Palacio de los Deportes (with Power Trip)
Oct. 24 – Fort Worth, TX – Sick New World Texas
Nov. 13 – Inglewood, CA – Kia Forum (with Cannibal Corpse, Cavalera and Crowbar)
