Skillet‘s six-track EP “After The Storm” arrives October 9 through Hear It Loud, led by new single “Lift Me Up“.
Skillet have announced After The Storm, a six-song EP due on October 9 through Hear It Loud, the label John Cooper runs. “Lift Me Up” is out now, with an anime-inspired lyric video.
David Cowell, who has worked with Sleep Theory, produced the record alongside Korey Cooper. The band recorded in Memphis, where they formed in 1996, with Cooper saying they went back to work with a producer who knew them before their debut.
“After The Storm is special to me because it reignites what Skillet was always meant to be — which is music that helps lift people out of dark times,” John Cooper said. “I wrote these songs because I needed to be lifted out of my own darkness.”
On the new single: “‘Lift Me Up‘ reminds me of early Skillet, but it still feels fresh. When I wrote it, so many things were dragging me down. I was asking God to lift me up. It’s a reminder that even when life feels overwhelming, there is still hope.”
“Scream” opened the campaign. The band played it live for the first time on May 14 at Arena 8888 in Sofia, Bulgaria during their European tour, announced it formally on June 22 and released it on July 10. It has since passed five million streams.

The EP follows Revolution, released on November 1, 2024 and the first Skillet record issued independently after the band left Atlantic, where 2022’s Dominion was their final release. Their 2025 Christmas single “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” reached number one on five Billboard charts.
A United States headline tour promoted by Live Nation follows the EP, billed as “Comatose: 20 Years, Still Screaming” and marking two decades since the album Comatose. It comes after a European run this year that the band say produced their largest international audiences to date, including a ticket sales record at the Zénith in Paris.
By the band’s own figures, Skillet average more than 12 million monthly Spotify listeners, have sold over 23 million albums, and have taken “Monster“, certified six times platinum, past five billion streams globally and into Spotify‘s Billions Club. They hold two Grammy nominations, a Billboard Music Award and three top five debuts on the Billboard 200, and have run the graphic novel series Eden through Z2.
