Skeletal Remains frontman and guitarist Chris Monroy has reportedly been barred from taking part in future editions of the 70000 Tons Of Metal following allegations of inappropriate conduct during last week’s sailing.
The annual event — often promoted as the world’s largest heavy metal cruise — wrapped up only days ago, but claims regarding Monroy’s behavior quickly began circulating online across platforms such as Reddit and Facebook.
One widely circulated Reddit post alleged:
“Chris Monroy, vocalist and guitarist for the death metal band Skeletal Remains, has reportedly been banned from future appearances on the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise following allegations of inappropriate behavior toward multiple women during the recent festival.”
“According to posts from attendees on social media, Monroy was frequently intoxicated during the cruise and allegedly groped women without their consent throughout the festival.”
“Social media posts discussing the incident suggest that event organizers reprimanded Monroy for the remainder of the festival, restricted his activities, and reportedly confined him to his room.”
“No official statement has yet been released by 70000 Tons of Metal promoters, Skeletal Remains‘ management, or Monroy himself.”
A separate widely shared account described the situation in the following terms:
“Last week was 70,000 Tons of Metal, the world’s largest heavy metal cruise.”
“Skeletal Remains frontman and guitarist Chris Monroy was drunkenly groping women during the entire trip. There are multiple witnesses, multiple victims, and he’s been banned from future 70K sailings.”
At the time of publication, neither the organizers of 70000 Tons Of Metal, Skeletal Remains’ management, nor Chris Monroy himself had released any official response to the allegations.
Conversation around the situation is still unfolding online, with fans and attendees urging greater accountability and improved safety protocols at future metal cruise events.
A post circulating on Facebook also suggests that the band may have parted ways with Monroy, though no official confirmation has been issued.
The post reads (according to Lambgoat):
“Oh and BTW f**k Chris Monroy. He’s a f**king predator and a wasted piece of s**t. First hand account. Stop listening to Skeletal Remains period.”
“EDIT: Much respect to the rest of the djents in the band for kicking Chris‘s ass to the curb in Florida after the boat. I’m proud of you guys for standing up with the rest of our metal family. No one threatens our safe space and good times 🤘💚 I love you all”
