Sid Wilson has been seen in public for the first time since reports surfaced claiming he was removed from Slipknot, but the longtime turntablist continues to remain silent about his current status with the band.
According to TMZ, Wilson was recently spotted arriving at a recording studio in Los Angeles with a friend. The appearance marks his first public sighting since the outlet reported that he had allegedly been fired from Slipknot.
While making his way into the studio, Wilson was directly asked whether he had been fired from Slipknot. However, the musician chose not to respond and kept his head down as he entered the building.
His friend briefly interacted with those present, smiling and joking: “We are late for church dude.”
Wilson‘s refusal to comment comes as speculation surrounding his future with Slipknot continues to grow. The original report from TMZ claimed that Wilson was informed on Friday, July 31, that he had been permanently removed from the Iowa-based band. The report cited a source with direct knowledge of the situation, but no reason behind the alleged decision has been revealed.
Neither the band nor Wilson has publicly addressed those claims, allowing speculation to spread rapidly across social media.
As fans debated the report, guitarist Jim Root appeared to weigh in with a cryptic Instagram Story that many interpreted as a warning against accepting unverified information. He wrote: “Don’t believe every thing you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for awhile. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”
Although Root never directly referenced Wilson or the TMZ report, his comments quickly became a focal point of the discussion, with many viewing them as an appeal for patience until official information is released.
Shortly afterward, guitarist Mick Thomson’s wife, Stacy Thomson, also shared a cryptic Instagram Story of her own.
Leaning into the humor of online rumors, Stacy posted an iconic quote from 1986’s Ferris Bueller’s Day Off about relying on word-of-mouth gossip. Even though she left out any direct mention of Slipknot or Wilson, fans quickly connected the dots, interpreting her post as a lighthearted response to the recent speculation.
She wrote: “My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it’s pretty serious.”
While Stacy offered no explanation for the post, its timing prompted many fans to speculate that it was another subtle response to the flood of rumors circulating online.
Wilson has been a cornerstone of Slipknot since joining the band in 1998 as member “0.” His turntable work and electronic textures became an essential ingredient of the group’s sound, while his energetic stage performances helped establish Slipknot‘s reputation as one of the most intense live acts in heavy music.
