A major shake-up may have hit the Slipknot camp, as longtime turntablist Sid Wilson has reportedly been dismissed from the legendary metal band after nearly 30 years.

According to TMZ, Wilson was informed on Friday afternoon (July 31) that his tenure with the Iowa-based group had come to an end. The outlet cited a source with direct knowledge of the situation, although the exact reason behind the reported firing has not been revealed. As of now, neither Slipknot nor Wilson has addressed the report publicly.

If confirmed, the departure would mark the end of an era for one of the band’s founding members. Wilson joined Slipknot in 1998 and became instantly recognizable as member “0,” bringing scratching, samples, and electronic elements into the band’s unmistakable sound. Beyond his musical contributions, his fearless, high-energy stage antics made him a fan favorite throughout the band’s rise to global stardom.

Over the years, Wilson played on every Slipknot studio album, helping shape records that established the band as one of the most influential names in modern heavy metal. From their groundbreaking self-titled debut through chart-topping releases and countless sold-out tours, he remained a constant presence both onstage and in the studio.

The reported split would further reduce the number of original members still in Slipknot. If Wilson is indeed gone, only vocalist Corey Taylor, percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, and guitarists Mick Thomson and Jim Root would remain from the lineup that propelled the band to worldwide success. The group’s history has already been marked by significant lineup changes, including the death of bassist Paul Gray in 2010, the dismissal of drummer Joey Jordison in 2013 before his death in 2021, and the firing of percussionist Chris Fehn in 2019.

The news also follows a difficult year in Wilson‘s personal life. Earlier in 2026, his engagement to Kelly Osbourne reportedly ended after the couple had been together for five years.

Until an official statement is issued, the circumstances surrounding Wilson‘s reported departure remain a matter of speculation. Fans will undoubtedly be watching closely to see whether Slipknot confirms the report and, if so, what prompted the apparent split with one of the band’s longest-serving members.
