In a touching moment that perfectly blended love and legacy, Slipknot’s Sid Wilson proposed to longtime partner Kelly Osbourne backstage during the final-ever performance of her father, the legendary Ozzy Osbourne.
The proposal unfolded behind the scenes at “Back to the Beginning,” the epic Black Sabbath farewell concert held at Villa Park in Birmingham on July 5. While over 42,000 fans came to witness the Prince of Darkness take the stage for the last time, the most unforgettable moment for the Osbourne family happened after the lights went down.
Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Sharon and Ozzy, shared a heartfelt video of the surprise proposal on Instagram, captioned simply: “Oh and this happened yesterday!”
The clip shows the family celebrating Ozzy’s milestone performance in an intimate backstage setting. Sharon Osbourne, clearly in on the surprise, turned to the group with a knowing smile and said, “You’ve got to be quiet!” — setting the stage for what came next.
With all eyes on him, Sid Wilson dropped to one knee in front of Kelly, who appeared completely unaware of what was about to happen. Dressed in a relaxed outfit of leopard-print pants and a black hoodie, Kelly was visibly stunned as Sid took her hand and said: “I want to spend the rest of my life with you — and ask in front of all of our family and friends, Kelly, will you marry me?”
In classic Ozzy fashion, the rock icon couldn’t resist a joke, quipping: “F**k off, you are not marrying my daughter!”
Kelly responded with shock and joy, smiling as Sid placed the ring on her finger, surrounded by their closest loved ones.
The couple has been together for several years and welcomed their son, Sidney, in 2022. While Kelly had previously downplayed the importance of marriage, telling Us Weekly that she didn’t need a certificate to validate her relationship, she also admitted Sid wanted the formal commitment: “We don’t need the certificate… but I know Sid really wants to get married, so we will get married.”
She continued: “Never in a million f**king years did I think I’d end up with a rock star partner, but I did.”
