Shinedown is preparing for a monumental year. The multi-platinum rock powerhouse has officially announced their eighth studio album, Ei8ht, set to arrive on May 29 via Atlantic Records. To celebrate the announcement, the band has released a lyric video for the record’s lead single, “Safe And Sound,” and unveiled plans for a massive 54-date global trek dubbed the “Dance, Kid, Dance Act II” world tour.
Produced by the band’s own bassist, Eric Bass, Ei8ht arrives as Shinedown rides a historic wave of momentum. Frontman Brent Smith shared his enthusiasm for the project and praised the intense collaborative effort that went into the recording process.
“This album is over a year in the making. Without question, as a band we pushed ourselves like never before. Especially when it comes to Eric. Myself, Zach and Barry are so honored to create, and work with such an extraordinary producer, engineer, mixer, songwriter, musician, performer and bandmate. We are so excited, finally announce our eighth studio album titled ‘Ei8ht’ alongside our ‘Dance, Kid, Dance Act II’ world tour.”
Speaking on the fierce energy of the new single, Smith explained:
“‘Safe And Sound‘ is about reminding the competition what they are dealing with one by one.”
The announcement follows an incredibly dominant period for Shinedown. Over the last year, the band released four major tracks—”Dance, Kid, Dance,” “Killing Fields,” “Three Six Five,” and “Searchlight“—breaking their own records in the process. They now hold the record for the most No. 1 songs on both the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart (21) and Mediabase‘s Active Rock chart (23).
They also recently made their debut at the historic Grand Ole Opry, performing their genre-blending hit “Searchlight.”
Beyond the charts and historic stages, the band sold out Madison Square Garden, raised $300,000 for Musicians On Call, and scored three nominations at the upcoming 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
The “Dance, Kid, Dance Act II” world tour will take Shinedown across 11 countries, hitting major arenas in North America and Europe. They will be bringing a stacked roster of support acts along for various dates, including Coheed And Cambria, Black Stone Cherry, From Ashes To New, Those Damn Crows, and DJ Rock Feed.
North American tickets go on sale Friday, February 20 at 10:00 a.m. local time. European tickets will follow on Friday, February 27 at 10:00 a.m. local time.
Additionally, the band is launching their first-ever curated destination festival, Shinedown‘s Lunatic Ball Beach Weekend, taking place October 23-25 in Miramar Beach, Florida. The three-day event will feature two unique headlining sets from Shinedown, alongside performances by Bush, Hanson, Flyleaf (featuring Lacey Sturm), Living Colour, From Ashes To New, Guardians Of The Jukebox, and Neon Mooners.
